Dear Parents & Carers,
I hope you are all keeping well. It has been a truly difficult time for us all to adapt to life and remote learning so quickly after expecting to come back to school. I know it is hard to home school and I just wanted to keep saying that we know it is difficult and everyone is doing amazingly! I have seen some of the work that has been coming in to teachers and reading about the conversations between children, parents and teachers on the weekly call and it is just so heartening to read how hard everyone is trying to keep going and do our best. You are doing your best in very difficult circumstances so keep going!
I often send out an inspirational quote to all staff on a Friday as part of our weekly briefing. One of my favourite quotes is by Dr Martin Luther King Jnr which is ‘If you can not fly, then run; If you can not run, then walk; If you can not walk, then crawl; but by all means keep moving’ This sums up the last few weeks for us - keep moving forwards to a brighter, better future for all. Keep going!
Half term
The DfE have announced this week that schools will close as normal over the half term break. Therefore, school will close to all pupils on Friday 12th February at normal staggered times.
No Mixing
I just wish to say how important it is that there is no unauthorised mixing of households within the community. The lockdown does not allow us to mix outside of our support bubbles and it is really important for the safety of all that this is adhered to.
Vouchers
If you are having any problems with the Free School Meal vouchers, please contact the school office. Remember from previous newsletters, a voucher is only available to parents who claims free school meals (Pupil Premium) not universal free school meals.
The Prime Minister announced on Wednesday that the earliest schools will be looking to reopen has been moved to Monday 8th March. Naturally, we would love to have welcomed all our children back after the half term break. However this is not possible yet to do so safely with the infection rates still so high. Once the Government have announced further details, I will be meeting with my senior leadership team to plan the safe return to school in line with the guidance. This will not be until after the half term break.
Until then, we will be continuing with our Remote Learning offer which is now on our school website. If you have any concerns or questions, please raise them with your child’s teacher on their weekly call.
As always, take care and stay safe
With very best wishes,
Mr Perkins
