Dear Parents & Carers,

Update from Mr Perkins

Hello everyone!  I hope everyone is well.  It has been a very busy week in school this week.  Year 3-6 have started their project work with Liverpool FC which I know they have enjoyed and I look forward to hearing/seeing the outcome in the coming weeks.  Also, this week, our Year 5 and Year 6 children have had Rocket Training to build children's resilience.  This is part of our developing Mental Health curriculum and we have events planned for other children later this year.  We have also made an excellent start to our phonics this week; new topics; texts for use in our reading and writing sessions and continuing our catch up programme in Maths.

I would ask that now that we are in a new term we ensure that our high standards for uniform are maintained.  As you'll know from a letter this week from Miss Holdsworth, we are planning to provide a PE kit to all children.  It is a sense of pride and prepares children for their later school life that they wear the school uniform including their shoes.  It is also important that the children only wear the jewelry they are allowed to (stud earrings and a watch) and not necklaces.  I appreciate your support in making sure our children are wearing the correct uniform at all times.

I also wish to thank parents for adhering to some new advice since coming back to school including wearing masks on the playground, maintaining social distancing, reducing the number coming to pick up your children and testing/isolating when you need to.  As I wrote last week, this will provide us with the best opportunity in keeping any disruption the current high case rate locally could pose us.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

KS2 LFC #iWill Project

This week in school saw the start of an exciting community project that our Key Stage 2 pupils will be completing. #iWill is a 12-week youth-led social action programme that inspires youth voice and empowers children and young people to identify and tackle the issues within their local communities that they feel most passionately about, whilst also supporting local charities and good causes. The programme empowers participants to make a positive difference within their school and their local community. Pupils participating within the programme will develop leadership, organisational and negotiation skills whilst increasing their understanding of how everyone has the power to make a positive difference. Within the programme pupils will explore the main ways in which social action can be delivered including raising awareness of specific issues by campaigning for change, volunteering, fundraising, peer mentoring and peer education. The children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and are looking forward to working with LFC over the next term.

After School Club and Breakfast Club

If you would like your child to attend either of these clubs they must be booked in to the required sessions on the ParentPay site. Booking system closes on the Friday evening for the following week. Children can not attend the sessions unless they are booked in, this is to ensure we have the correct staffing levels and enough food for all of the children. If there is an unexpected need for your child to attend and you have been unable to book a place please call the school office.

An Amazing Act of Kindness

Layla (Y5H) has had just over 12 inches of hair cut off to donate to the Little Princess Trust. How amazing! She has also got a Just Giving donations page set up to raise money for the charity too. Her family and the school community are so proud of her, particularly her generosity, kindness and thinking of others! Well done Layla!

New P.E. Uniform

As advised on the letter issued 11th January, school are providing a brand new P.E. kit for every child. Could you please return the completed slip regarding the size of uniform you would like for your child by Friday the 21st January. The orders will then be placed and we will not be able to accept orders after this date. Thank you.

Parking Around School

Please be considerate to neighbours when parking to drop off or collect your children from school. Some residents have complained about cars being parked across drives or double parking and causing an obstruction.
