READING AWARDS

We are delighted to award the following children their bronze, silver and gold awards this week:

Miss Haslam.

Sadly, Miss Haslam will be leaving us on Wednesday 1st May. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for all her hard work at Willow Tree over the last 4 years. Miss Holdsworth has been appointed as Assistant Head Teacher from 1st May.

Y6 SATS Week

Year 6 will be sitting their SATS papers each morning from Monday to 13th May to Thursday 16th May. To settle the children in they can arrive at school for breakfast from 8 am. We appreciate your help in preparing them for their busy week and ask that all are in school on time ready for the tests.

Year 6 Careers Fair

During the summer term we will be holding a careers fair for Year 6 children. This is a great opportunity for the children to chat to people about their line of work and possibly something they can aspire to for the future. If any parents or carers are willing to give up an hour one morning to come into school to talk to the children individually about their work we would be very grateful. There will be desks set up in the hall for you to chat to the children and they will have the opportunity to ask questions. If you would be willing to come into school please give the school office a call.

Drama Production The Wizard of Oz

The drama club have been working very hard practicing for The Wizard of Oz. Tickets are still on sale for the performance at 5.30 on 2nd May. Tickets are priced at £2.50 for an adult and £1.00 for a child. Please come along and support the children.

Safety Around School

There have been incidents of electric scooters and bikes being ridden on school premises. This is a real cause for concern and puts the children at risk of injury. If you come to school on an electric bike/scooter it must NOT be ridden on school grounds.

Reusable Clothes – Sammy’s Project

The children are bringing a bag home today for items to raise money for our school and for charity to help beat blood cancer. More information has been sent out today via ParentPay and you can learn more about the project by visiting www.donateclothes4sammy.org.

The items that can go in the bags are

  • Adult’s and children’s clothes.

  • Paired shoes and footwear.

  • Soft toys and unwanted gifts.

  • Bath and hand towels.

  • Belts and handbags.

  • Jewellery and accessories.

  • Bedding and household linen.

All should be clean and in good condition.

No school uniform, curtains, pillows, duvets, bric-a-brac or books.

The filled bags should be brought into school on the morning of 8Th May, not any time before.
